Jurassic World Live
Jurassic World Live is a touring arena show produced by Feld Entertainment, based out of Palmetto, FL. The show traveled with 24 trucks of gear throughout the continental United States and Canada, and had massive set pieces and props, focusing on massive animatronic dinosaurs. The traveling crew was nearly 50 people, and everyone had their specific jobs. The Automation department was responsible for operation, installation, maintenance, and inspection of all equipment related to automated scenery or performer flying. Given the nature of the show, the automation was used to accent the production, rather than be the focus of the show, and as a result most axes of motion were only used once during each show. The package contained one scenic winch used to raise and lower an olio screen, two winches that moved performers and crew, two winches for a large aluminum platform that would descend from the grid, two winches that moved large trees from stage left to stage right on tracks to mask various parts of the projection screen, and seven winches used for flying prop dinosaurs. All of this was under the purview of just three people, and was challenging to properly integrate.
