Taste of Orleans
Taste of Orleans was the first major festival at California’s Great America, launched in 2016. Since the park had never done something like it before, it was entirely an experiment, and to continue doing it each year and expanding into more festivals, it had to be a huge success. With a dedicated budget of next to nothing, using only gear intended for other events that was not in use, the production team pulled it off. The scenery and lighting designs were done in house by existing creative staff, while the construction and installation was handled by an excellent technical team. The largest undertaking was the installation of a brand new Q-SYS system, albeit a small one. Five separate amps were placed in different areas of the festival zone, with a Q-SYS core all the way across the park in the server room. The event had loud background music, two live bands that, when performing, would fade out the surrounding music and send the live music through the nearby speakers, as well as a fireworks show timed to music at the end of the night.
